NYC: TRANS CULTURE THROUGH MEDIA LECTURE/ TALK

  • ICP Museum 250 Bowery New York, NY, 10012 United States (map)

Based on Daphne Chan’s research surrounding her Transparency: The Gender Identity Project, Daphne will be in conversation with Ceyenne Doroshow, Pêche Di, and Jes Tom. As an LGBTQIA activist, feminist, and former sex worker, Doroshow will share her struggles with employment, housing, education, and family, and talk about her memoir Cooking in Heels, written while serving prison time. Pêche Di—a model; founder of Trans Models, the first trans modeling agency in New York City; and co-founder of Teadate, a transgender relationship dating app—will discuss how she uses social media to both find models for her agency and create new platforms for transgender individuals. Jes Tom is a queer stand-up comic; they gleefully provide the non-binary Asian American radical cyborg perspective that everyone never knew they wanted.
