The Roost in the East Village is coffee bar, living room and speak easy rolled into one beautiful industrial space (that actually used to be a mechanics garage) just off 14th street. You can sip a Brooklyn Roasting Company coffee and people watch at the window, or you can take your Balthazar pastry a little further back and get quiet and cozy (and down to business) on a leather couch under a soft lamp. Or choose the corner bench - outlets at your disposal. When the lights go down at the end of a long day, the barn door behind the couches slides open and reveals a long bar with an extensive beer menu boasting frequent new additions.

Seating: A few stools and tables by the window in the front, couches and “breakfast nook” in the back. Stick around for the bar scene in the way back in the evening.
Snacks: Simple sandwiches and pastries.
